Are you itching to gamble? What is the old saying, if your palm is itching you are going to come into money. Well, it might be at a casino. LOL. I tend to gamble a few times a year, either in Las Vegas, on a cruise, or most recently at the Catawba Two Kings Casino near where I live.
This blog will talk about my reviews, location, area attractions, hotels and restaurants nearby. Sometimes you need to escape the casino if you are loosing, so it is nice to check out the beautiful area located on the North Carolina and South Carolina state line.
Less than an hour away from Charlotte North Carolina, Catawba Two Kings Casino, in Kings Mountain NC. Exit 5 (Dixon School Road) off of Interstate 85. and 5 miles from the South Carolina line. There is not much at that exit at the moment. Construction on the permanent casino has started, and has been delayed for sometime, but the Catawba Nation have started building. Work on sewer systems, and roads at exit ramp have been completed and now they have started the real resort/casino construction. The temporary casino is up and running though.
There are 1000 slot machines, a high limit room, sportsbook area, and a few electronic table games like Roulette, Craps, and Blackjack. The gambling machines are new and good. I have played several of these in Vegas a couple months ago. (Hot Stuff, Quick Hits and Zeus).
While at the casino for the first time, sign up for the Free Club North Membership. This is the card you stick in the machine to gamble on to earn points. It is free to sign up. Remember to bring you photo id for identification purposes (drivers license or etc). Right now, they are offering several deals with this card and exclusive offers. New sign ups get a chance to win 1000 bucks, and also every 30 minutes during the day as long as you have your card in the gaming machines and you are gambling, your name could be called for you to come up and spin their wheel full of goodies. Plus using this card will help you earn free money to gamble with, on your next trip. Just insert your card in the machine, enter your pin number you created, then hit Promo, and collect your free money there, it just moves the free money to the machine you are on. You will get unique rewards, and mail telling you about upcoming events and so much more.
They also have a little cafe at one end of the temporary casino, and a food truck area attached to a patio that you can reach from the inside of the casino. There is also a little deli where you can get a snacks or drinks.
You will also have the waitstaff coming to check on you while you are gambling to see if you need anything to drink, Drinks area not free. They do not have liquor at the moment, but they do have beer and wine if interested, and of course they have a variety of non-alcoholic beverages. Just remember to tip when they deliver your drink.
Now available is the Catawba Two Kings Casino mobile app for online gambling. I am not familiar with this, as I am a person who would rather be there live in the action.

I love this place! It is only an hour from where I live, making it the closest place to have some gambling fun. I always go on a weekday and arrive by 9 AM and stay for a couple hours. After lunch, the place becomes busy, and on the weekends it is hard to find a seat it is so packed. I understand why it is so packed, its the location. This is the closest casino to Charlotte NC at only an hour away from there also. In the past most people would have to go to Cherokee NC to the Harrah's Casino that is more like 3.5 hours away. More recently there is a Ceaser's Casino that has opened in Danville Virginia, but that still almost a 3 hour drive from Charlotte NC.
I have done well on the machines. You never win every time, but the Zeus machine hits for me quite often. All the machines are new, some of the newest on the market, plus video and live table games and Catawba Two Kings sportsbook betting for those that enjoy it. I have never played three card poker or any table games except Roulette and Black Jack, but I honest have not played them here. It has all been about the slot machines. Zeus, Hot Stuff, Huff-n-Puff, Press Your Luck and Invaders from the Planet Moolah are my favorite.
I come as often as I can, I never bring more money than I am willing to loose. With that being said, if I have bills or am planning a vacation, I will not be putting any money in those fun little machines. But there is something about the lights and the bells and whistles of a casino, that will always draw me back for more. As long as I am living in the Charlotte NC area, I will gladly visit the Catawba Two Kings casino, with high reviews!. Right now I will have to say it is my favorite casino because it is the closest casino to me.

Hotels and Restaurants nearby.
If you are coming from a long distance away and need a place to stay overnight. Hotels are on exit 8, just 3 miles north, and easy access to the casino. Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Inn, and Quality Inn. FYI, If you sign up at the casino to be a North Club Member, and it will give you a 10% discount at the Holiday Inn Express in Kings Mountain.
On exit 8 you will find other things like gas stations, and restaurants. Fast food is common, but there are a couple local places I recommend here. Big E Original BBQ, Smokin Mountain BBQ, RICE Authentic Thai Restaurant (formerly known as Auntie Seng's Kitchen), and Italian Garden and Pizzaria. One thing I love even though it is fast food, Biscuitville. Their breakfast biscuit sandwiches are the best.
Nature at its finest nearby.
There are other attractions in the Kings Mountain area to take a peek at, if you decide to stay in the area for a bit, or you are staying in a hotel, and not gambling the whole time.
Crowders Mountain State Park, hike up to the Pinnacle for a scenic overlook of the area below. There are 2 different trails to get you up there, one is 2 hours and the other is 3 hours. It is beautiful, whichever trail you choose.
Kings Mountain State Park in Blacksburg SC. You can go fishing, horseback riding, and hiking. Visit the old farm, which is what a farm looked like in the 1800's, and hike to the Kings Mountain National Military Park on the Ridgeline Trail. The Ridgeline is 1.8 miles and connects you to NC and SC.
The Ridgeline trail leads you to Crowders Mountain State Park. and Kings Mountain National Military Park this is where the battle of Kings Mountain happened in the Revolutionary War. Thomas Jefferson made comments about this battle being the turning point in the Revolutionary War. Side note, there were not any British in the battle here. Both sides of the battle were from America.
If you would prefer to stay in Shelby NC is just 9 to 10 minutes away on Route 74, There are a few hotels that offer discounts for North Club Casino Members. Fairfield Inn and Suite, Comfort Inn, and Hampton Inn. With a larger city there are more restaurants too. I recommend, Jade Express, Skooters Bar and Grill, Khop Khun (Taste of Thailand), And the Bess Group Soulfood and Catering (my favorite).
If you go farther north on interstate 85, you will be in the Gastonia area which is a large City. Belmont is also close by. This is about 16 to 22 miles north of the Casino, There are 2 hotels giving discounts to North Club members. Holiday Inn Express in Gastonia and Fairfield Inn and Suites in Belmont.
There are tons of Restaurants in this area. But there is one I will mention that is in the Belmont area. Nellie's Southern Kitchen. This restaurant is owned by The Jonas Brothers mother and has lots of memorabilia on the walls. So, if you are a fan, you might want to check it out. I didn't even realize that The Jonas Brothers father was from the Charlotte NC area, until I was in Las Vegas my last trip. When I saw Nellie's Southern Kitchen at MGM Grand. Thats right their mother has opened up one there too.
