Join me as I explore the story behind this iconic restaurant, its rave-worthy reviews, my personal experience dining there, and all the delicious details about its menu and prime location.

The History of Angelo’s Steak and Pasta
Angelo’s Steak and Pasta has been a beloved fixture in Myrtle Beach for decades. Established by Angelo Antonucci in 1980, this family-owned restaurant was built on a passion for great food and a commitment to quality. Angelo originally lived in Steubenville, Ohio, where his family owned a restaurant. He wanted to create something similar in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Angelo’s started as a small Italian eatery. Initially, it wasn’t a great success. However, when they introduced a $2.99 all-you-can-eat spaghetti deal in the early 1980s, it became a hit. They even had a banner flying over the beach for advertisements. Over the years, it expanded both in size and reputation, moving to a larger building just a few blocks south of the original one on South Kings Highway. It became synonymous with unforgettable meals and warm Southern hospitality.
What truly sets Angelo’s apart is their dedication to consistency. Generations of visitors and locals alike have flocked to this iconic spot, drawn by its timeless appeal. From their signature steaks cooked to perfection on specially designed sizzle platters to the homemade Italian dishes rich with tradition, every item on the menu tells a story of love for the culinary arts.
Today, Angelo’s continues to thrive even after the sale and retirement of Angelo Antonucci in 2022, and the devastating death of head chef Steve Straka. It still operates under new leadership, staying true to the values that made it a household name. It’s not just a place to eat; it’s part of the Myrtle Beach experience.
When you walk in or as you leave, look at the walls, full of awards and mentions in newspapers and magazines, plus contributions they have made to the community.

My Review
Spoiler alert—it absolutely lives up to the hype. I have been coming to Myrtle Beach since I was a baby with my parents. My first experience was as a child of about 8 or 9 years old when my parents wanted to check it out. Of course, I wanted pizza (which they have on the buffet), but my dad wanted steak. I remember sitting there watching his sizzling steak-filled plate come out from the kitchen. It smelled so yummy that I asked for one bite. Of course, he did give me a piece, and it was good, but the kid in me went right back to my pizza. This first experience sealed my family's fate. Every year since, we have visited Myrtle Beach, and Angelo's Steak and Pasta has been our go-to restaurant.
On my latest visit, I started with their famous bacon-wrapped scallops, which were cooked to a perfect caramelized finish, tasting like a little bite of heaven. These appetizers could easily be a meal on their own, but I knew I had to save room for what was to come. For the main course, I couldn’t resist ordering one of the steaks that everyone raves about. Cooked on a sizzling platter and seasoned to perfection, it was everything I could hope for in a steakhouse experience. The seared crust gave way to juicy, tender beef that practically melted in my mouth. It was one of the greatest steaks I have ever eaten.

Knowing that steak was my dinner for that night, I did not get the Italian buffet, but two days later, I was back for the buffet. Words can hardly do it justice. Picture an abundance of lasagna, cheese or meat-stuffed ravioli, meatballs, and Italian sausage, all made fresh and bursting with authentic Italian flavors. It’s clear that everything on the buffet is crafted with care, from the perfectly balanced marinara sauce to the creamy Alfredo. My favorite items are the Tortellini Alfredo and my childhood favorite, the pepperoni pizza, which is still on the buffet.
The atmosphere was cozy yet elegant, with soft lighting and a welcoming vibe, where they bring an amazing salad and bread to the table. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just looking for a memorable night out, Angelo’s is the kind of place that makes any occasion feel extraordinary. Prices are great for the Italian buffet, even a little bit cheaper if you arrive between 3 and 6 PM for the early bird special for the buffet, early bird menu, or happy hour prices. Prime Rib is a Saturday night-only offering, and get there early as they always sell out. Prime Rib and steak prices are expensive compared to the buffet, but compared to other steak restaurants, they are similar in price.

Convenience is key, and Angelo’s Steak and Pasta delivers with its prime location in Myrtle Beach. Situated just off Highway 17, S, Kings Highway, the restaurant is an easy-to-find gem that feels central to everywhere you’d want to be.

Menu Selection in Detail
Now, onto the best part—what’s on the menu? Angelo’s Steak and Pasta offers a selection that caters to every craving, but their shining stars are undoubtedly the steaks and the Italian buffet. They do have a full bar with wine lists, frozen drinks, bottles, and draft beer. The full menu has many pasta dishes, soups, and appetizers. Plus, chicken and veal dishes too. I have seen the Chicken Marsala as it was being brought to the table beside me once, and it looked delicious. They even have my favorite dessert, cannoli.

Steaks That Sizzle
Angelo’s is known far and wide for its signature sizzle platters. These custom-designed platters deliver steak with dramatic flair—they arrive at your table hot and sizzling, filling the air with an irresistible aroma that makes your mouth water before you’ve even taken a bite.
The steaks come in a variety of cuts, including filet mignon, ribeye, New York strip, and sirloin. Each is hand-cut and expertly charbroiled to your preferred level of doneness. And the flavor? Absolutely unforgettable. Whether you like your steak buttery rare or crispy well-done, the chefs at Angelo’s ensure perfection every time. Perhaps the most impressive thing about the steak menu is its versatility. From plain and simple to topped with decadent sauces like Béarnaise or wine-reduction, there’s something for every steak lover to enjoy. Don't forget they also serve Prime Rib on Saturdays; just arrive early because they always sell out.

The Indulgent Italian Buffet
If you’re someone who loves Italian cuisine, the buffet at Angelo’s is a dream come true. Unlike many buffets where quality can take a backseat to quantity, this one is the real deal. Each dish is prepared fresh, with attention to detail that showcases the restaurant’s Italian roots. It’s only $16.95 for adults and $9.95 for kids ages 4 to 9. Kids under 3 years old eat free.
You’ll find classic pasta dishes like spaghetti with marinara, creamy Alfredo, and meat sauce, lasagna, alongside irresistibly Italian green beans, tortellini Alfredo, meatballs, ravioli, stuffed shells, and chicken cacciatore, plus golden-brown garlic bread. The meatballs on the buffet are a highlight—juicy, well-seasoned, and simmered to perfection. They always have pizza, usually cheese pizza and pepperoni, plus two other items that are the "Chef's Choice" that can rotate daily.
Add a salad bar stocked with fresh veggies and a robust selection of dressings, and it’s easy to see why the buffet draws diners back time and time again. It’s the kind of comfort food that satisfies both the stomach and the soul.
